US THAT LOVE COFFEE

US Cities That Love Coffee

By Christine Rankin

Coffee consumption is a huge industry in the United States. Let's face it, people in America love coffee and they have great taste! Finding the perfect cup of coffee is a wonderful thing, and when you do, it is like heaven. Some U.S. cities have more exotic coffee than others, and when visiting those cities it can be a delicious experience.

Seattle is number one for coffee-lovers for so many reasons. For one it is the birthplace of the coffee giant Starbucks. Whether you are a fan of Starbucks, or not, you have to say this coffee empire changed the coffee-loving world. Where I live there are several Starbucks in town. It does not matter what location I visit, what day of the week, or what time of day, there is always a line! The hustle and bustle of this famous coffee shop it amazing. Seattle is also known for the plethora of mom and pop coffee shops, the infamous "Slayer" espresso maker, and many coffee tasting rooms. As there is so much selection of delicious Kona, Jamaican Blue Mountain, Kopi Luwak and more the problem may be deciding what to drink when visiting Seattle!

Number two on the list is my favorite city in the U.S. - Portland. Portland, Oregon is a beautiful place to visit, live and to drink coffee! As this city is often cooler, grey and overcast, coffee has become a way of life for keeping local Portland people warm and toasty. One of the most famous Portland roasters is Stumptown Coffee Roasters that produce some of the most delicious coffee in the world!

San Francisco, Providence and New York City round out the top five. New York City is a mecca that thrives on coffee. The hustle and bustle of the city has everlasting coffee pumping through its veins! What I was surprised to see what that Los Angeles, was number 20. I was expecting it much higher, but then again I can see why it was probably only number 20. As a long time resident of L.A., I have to say the residents are pretty happy with chains such as Starbucks, Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf and places of the like. Afterall, L.A. is one of the most sunny places in the world, they do not need the coffee to keep them going!

Although your city may not be on the list of the best coffee spots, finding a perfect cup of coffee is so simple. Just stop by your local mom and pop coffee shop and I'm sure you will find a delicious cup of coffee waiting for you!
