RECALL: Mr. Coffee Single Cup Brewing Systems being recalled

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health announced a voluntary recall of the consumer product. The products were sold online and in stores nationwide from September 2010 through August 2012. The products were available at Bed, Bath & Beyond, JC Penney, Kmart, Lowes, Target, Walmart and other stores. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.

Approximately 520,000 coffee makers are being recalled because of a burn hazard.

Sunbeam Products Inc. is recalling Mr. Coffee Single Brewing Systems.

Incidents/Injuries: The company has received 164 reports of the brewing chamber opening due to steam pressure, including approximately 59 reports in the U.S. and two in Canada of burn injuries to consumers' face, upper torso and hands.

Recall Issue

In the US and Canada  have been announced that could affect the recalls UK 2 related product.

Bosch are recalling 1.7m Tassimo Coffee Makers and replacing the T-Disc holder. There are 140 reported incidents in North America of hot liquids being sprayed from the Tassimo resulting in 37 cases of 2nd degree burns, including one case involving a 10 year old girl who required hospital treatment for burns on her face and neck.

At the same time a separate, but related, recall was announced by Kraft who are recalling 4m packages of T Discs (which we estimate equates to 32m – 64m individual T Discs). The T Discs are being recalled because they can become clogged and spray hot liquid and coffee grounds onto consumers and bystanders.

There have been 21 reports of incidents of hot liquid and/or coffee grounds spraying onto consumers and bystanders, including 4 reports of second-degree burn injuries. One injury involved a 2-year-old girl from Canada who received second-degree burns to her face.

News Massive Recall of Tassimo Coffee Brewers | Massive Recall of Tassimo Coffee Brewers After 10-Year-Old Burned, Hospitalized |

The Health Canada and U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commissionannounced a recall of more than 1 million Tassimo Single-Cup Brewers after more than 100 reports of the brewers spraying hot liquid and burning users.

According to the CPSC, it turns out about 835,000 brewers  in the U.S. and 900,000 in Canada are being recalled.

Product been recalled after “140 reports of incidents with the brewers spraying hot liquid, coffee grounds or tea leaves onto consumers, including 37 reports of second-degree burns.” The product is Single-Cup Brewers use plastic T Discs that are filled with coffee or tea to brew hot drinks.
