HOW MANY CALORIES A CUP OF COFFEE AND SOLUTION

Coffee is one of the most debated topics as far as calories are concerned. Coffee - by itself without the additives - has almost a zero calorie count. If you were to look at the coffee calorie database from the United States, an eight ounce coffee that has been brewed from ground only has two calories.

Every coffee bean has oils and this is why baristas are trained to wipe and clean their espresso machines to prevent this buildup. Sometimes a cup of coffee may have a terrible or sour taste. In essence, coffee beans and added water produce a two calorie coffee drink as reflected in many diet and calorie guides available anywhere. It's the milk and sugar that really drive up the calorie count.

People add milk or sugar or combine them into the coffee to dispel the bitter taste that comes with plain coffee.

The addition of syrups and flavors can affect calories as long as it is sweet. Some people opt to use non-dairy creamers in their coffee but it still racks up calorie points. A standard powdered creamer can give 20 - 35 calories alone. So the next time you order coffee, take it plain.

Coffee is a very low calorie beverage, however, once people begin adding things like sugar, milk and flavorings coffee can be transformed from almost no calories to many calories very quickly.

Many popular cafe's and restaurant chains have also created "gourmet" or "specialty coffees" that entice customers with their extreme use of flavors and ingredients, but they also can give the consumer a whole day's worth of calories in one drink.

Here's a table that shows the various calorie amounts of different types/brands of coffee including some of the specialty varieties from popular restaurants.
